IPESG operates as a global scholarly initiative that draws on the active and diverse community of the Earth System Governance Research Alliance, bringing together academics from across regions and social science disciplines. Its assessment community consists of Coordinating Lead Authors, who provide intellectual leadership and overall responsibility for each assessment domain; Lead Authors, who develop specific sections; and Contributing Authors, who conduct the systematic assessment of the literature. In constituting its author teams, IPESG ensures diversity in terms of geography, gender, disciplinary background and methodological approaches.
